- When connecting to a pipe or pump, the float needs 4 in. of tether to operate properly; it must be able to float into an upward position so that the ball bearing inside the switch makes contact to turn the pump on.
- In order for the float to operate freely, the basin should be at least 14 in. wide and 16 in. deep; if not, the float could become stuck on the wall of the sump basin.

This switch is to be used with submersible well or jet pumps. It can be wired 115-Volt or 230-Volt. This switch must be used in conjunction with a well pressure tank. The air pressure in the well tank, when empty of all water, must be set to 38 psi or the switch will not operate properly.
